Packers-Panthers: Three Keys

  • Print

As always, protection Carolina defensive end Charles Johnson racked up 11 1/2 sacks last year and in Week One he and fellow end Greg Hardy each notched a sack.  The Panthers know the only way to disrupt the Packers offense is to get to Aaron Rodgers.  The emphasis will be on the play of Chad Clifton and Bryan Bulaga.

Gut Check In Week One Carolina started two rookie defensive tackles and middle linebacker Jon Beason went down with an injury (he has since been placed on IR.)  The result?  A 90 yard day from Beanie Wells with a good chunk of that coming up the middle.  The Packers don't need a huge day on the ground but James Starks and Ryan Grant should have plenty of success.

DeAngelo Who? We all know what Cam Newton can do.  But don't forget the Panthers have two good running backs in DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.  Look for those two to get a heavier workload today in an attempt to slow down the game and keep the Packers offense off the field.
