The 25 Games That Will Make Or Break The Brewers

  • Print

Forget interleague imbalance, road woes and other diamond doldrums, the NL Central will be won or lost in 25 games.

The 25 matchups are the remaining games the Brewers have with St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.  Whatever happened in the first half doesn't matter now.  The Brewers and Cardinals are tied with 70 games remaining so the season comes down to how you fare in your own division.  It is fitting then that nearly half of those 25 games are against St. Louis.  There's lot of ground to be gained or lost, especially considering the 12 meetings fall between August 1 and September 7.  In fact, all 25 games occur after July 31.  Not much room for error.

Of the remaining 13 games three are against the Reds and 10 versus Pittsburgh.  As a bonus six of those 10 games against the Pirates are at Miller Park.  The bad news is of those all important 25 games 12 are at home with 13 on the road.  25 games that will define the 2011 season.  Welcome to flavor country.

With the Francisco Rodriguez trade the Brewers have tipped the balance ever so slightly.  Now look for the Reds and Cardinals to make corresponding moves.  Let the second half begin!
