The First Four Thoughts On The First Four

  • Print

1. I'm liking the new format for the NCAA Tournament.  In the past the play-in game that pitted the two lowest seeded teams was such a throwaway.  But now adding three more games including the last four at-large teams gives the First Four more relevancy.

2. Watching Clemson-UAB & USC-VCU felt a little like watching Feast Week.  A pair of matchups featuring like teams from different conferences on a neutral court is always a good thing.  And there's nothing wrong with a little slice of Thanksgiving in mid-March

3. The NCAA needs to tweak the format just a little bit.  It seems unfair that Clemson wins a late game Tuesday then has a quick turnaround to face West Virginia Thursday morning.

4. I'm certain this was the first time I've tuned in to tru TV and I'm including its predecessor Court TV.  There will be plenty of tru TV watching this week though.

Enjoy the Madness.
