Bracketeering 2011: Thursday Update
With no automatic bids at stake today the bubble teams are in focus. In the Big XII Oklahoma State couldn't pull off the upset of Kansas and so the Cowboys are on the outside looking in. Colorado, on the other hand, scored a big win over Kansas State. Colorado and Kansas will meet in the semifinals tomorrow.
In the ACC Boston College took a step forward with a first round win but the Eagles need a bit more work. A win over Clemson tomorrow would go a long way.
Down south Georgia keeps its tournament hopes alive in a blowout of Auburn. This sets up a showdown against fellow bubble team Alabama in the quarterfinals.
USC grabbed an impressive win over California and in the process the bubble likely has burst for Cal. The Pac 10 got a bit stronger as the year wore on and there's a chance the conference will get at least four bids. The Washington-Washington State game carries some significance if you don't mind staying up late.
The situation in Conference USA will be very fluid as there were five bubble teams coming into today. UAB's loss is crushing considering the Blazers were the #1 seed and it was assumed they'd get at least one win.
