Bracketeering 2011: Is Marquette In?

  • Print

Championship Week is in full force and the biggest question surrounding the Big East tournament is whether or not Marquette is NCAA Tournament-worthy.  The conventional thinking was that the Golden Eagles needed at least one win to really solidify their case.

Mission accomplished but there may still be some work to do.  With Old Dominion and Butler wrapping up automatic spots the bid thieves are nowhere to be found.  However, that could change later in the week, specifically in the WAC and Mountain West tournaments.

Then there's always the highly improbably chance that South Florida or Rutgers goes nuclear and wins the Big East tourney.  Would the selection committee actually consider 12 Big East teams?  For now Marquette is in and should the Eagles beat West Virginia for season win number 20 they will be a lock.
