Jets-Steelers: Three Keys

  • Print

The Wildcat In the Week 15 showdown between these two teams Brad Smith returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and that set the tone for the rest of the game.  Thanks to the return Pittsburgh was forced to try to kick away from Smith and that gave the Jets good field position all day.  Smith was out for the Jets last week but will play today.  Will he have the same impact?

Head & Shoulders Above Everyone Else Pittsburgh's Troy Polamalu might be the most important non-offensive player in the NFL.  When he is out the Pittsburgh defense suffers and that was the case in Week 15.  Without Polamalu the Steelers registered only one sack, no interceptions and allowed the Jets to convert 6 of 13 3rd down opportunities.  Polamalu is healthy and look for him to be all over the field today.

Clutch QBs Mark Sanchez isn't the most impressive but the last two weeks he came through with the game on the line.  Meanwhile, Ben Roethlisberger has been the best fourth quarter quarterback over the last few years  If it comes down to the last drive conventional wisdom tells you Roethlisberger will pull out the win.  Though it should be noted that in Week 15 Roethlisberger misfired on two attempts from the New York 10 in the final seconds.

Prediction Steelers 30, Jets 16
