Playoff Update

Let's start with the Packers 7-3 loss to Detroit.  That's a triple whammy.  It's a loss in a game that you should win but it's also a conference loss and more importantly a division loss.  Now, assuming Green Bay wins the next two games, the Packers would need Chicago to lose to Minnesota or lose to both the Patriots and the Jets for the Packers to have a chance at winning the division.

Tampa Bay's wild 17-16 win over Washington keeps the Buccaneers in the playoff race.  Tampa Bay is at 8-5 and tied with the Packers but the Buccaneers are 6-3 in conference play, a half-game ahead of the Packers.

In the AFC, Jacksonville's 38-31 win over Oakland means the Jaguars stay a game ahead of Indianapolis in the AFC South and the two teams meets next week.  Oakland meanwhile falls 2 1/2 games behind Kansas City in the West.

With a 23-7 win over Cincinnati, Pittsburgh is one step closer to both a divisional title and a first round bye in the AFC playoffs.
