Packers-Cowboys: Three Keys

  • Print

Air Attack Despite ranking 10th in pass defense the Cowboys can be exploited through the air.  Last week the Cowboys gave up 260 yards and four scores to the rather pedestrian David Garrard.  The week before New York's Eli Manning threw for 306 yards and another four touchdowns.  All told Dallas has given up 15 aerial scores this year and even though we say it every week this is as good as any for Aaron Rodgers to put up big numbers.

The Whole Kitna-kaboodle With Jon Kitna at quarterback there's no question Dallas is not as threatening offensively.  Although Kitna threw for 379 yards in his first start last week he was intercepted four times.  Jacksonville put pressure on Kitna and forced him into mistakes.  With a far better pass rush the Packers should have the same success as Jacksonville's defense.

Immovable Object Coming off a magnificent performance against the Jets the Packers showed they can stop the run.  For Dallas to get back on track they'll need to rely less on Kitna (49 attempts last week) and more on their three-headed backfield.  Over the past few weeks Felix Jones saw his role diminish and if the Packers can stop the run for another week Dallas will run out of options offensively.

Prediction Packers 34, Cowboys 17
