  • NCAA Tournament Primer: Day 2

The NCAA tournament didn't exactly get off to a rockin' start, but by mid-afternoon, things got interesting with St. Mary's near buzzer-beater over Memphis, and Marquette's improbable comeback win over Davidson. We saw a pair of 12 seeds (Oregon and California) advance - along with 14-seeded Harvard. The Crimson's win over New Mexico (3) was the biggest upset of the day.

  • Marshall Henderson - the man UW fans will grow to despise

One of the many things I love about the NCAA tournament is the chance to watch players come into their own when the bright lights are on. Every year a player or two, or three, rise to the occasion and carry their team further than expected.

  • NCAA Tournament Primer: Day 1

I know four NCAA tournament games are already in the books, but let's be honest - the tournament starts in earnest with 16 games on Thursday, and 16 more on Friday.

  • UW Football: Badgers to take on Alabama in 2015

Talk about kickin' it up a notch. The University of Wisconsin football team will open the 2015 season against two-time defending BCS champion Alabama, the athletic department announced on Wednesday. The game will be played on a neutral site at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX on September 5.

Greg Jennings thanks Packers fans with full-page ad

After spending seven memorable seasons with the Green Bay Packers, wide receiver Greg Jennings turned down the Packers reported contract offer in lieu of a 5-year, $47.5 million dollar offer from the Minnesota Vikings.

  • New BIG Ten Division proposal more geographically based

According to ESPN.com's Big Ten Blog, the Legends and Leaders divisions in the Big Ten will receive a makeover when Maryland and Rutgers join the conference in 2014. At first glance, the new alignment is more based on geography than the current system. It's no coincidence the divisions, at this juncture, will be referred to as East and West.

  • Odds of winnings the NCAA tournament

The NCAA tournament officially begins Tuesday night with round one. I still call them "play-in games" but I feel like the NCAA doesn't prefer to use that term.

  • Favre helped lure Jennings to Minnesota

Well, this probably won't sit well with some Packers fans. Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver, Greg Jennings said he communicated with former Packers and Vikings quarterback Brett Favre during his visit to Minnesota last week.

  • NCAA Tournament announcer pairings

Let the madness begin! Now that the NCAA tournament bracket has been revealed and game times announced, its time to look ahead to the talking head's who will be calling the games. The tournament begins in earnest on Thursday and Friday with what is officially referred to as "round 2". The tournament officially begins on Tuesday with a pair of play-in games.

  • AP all-state boys basketball teams announced

The 2012-2013 boys high school basketball season has come to a close with Germantown capturing the boys title in division one with a 26-0 record. Germantown center Luke Fischer capped his senior season with a state title and the honor of being named "Mr. Basketball" in the state of Wisconsin. The 7'0" Fischer will play for Tom Crean at the University of Indiana next year.

  • Greg Jennings to meet with Vikings today

It was only a matter of time before the news became official. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Free agent wide receiver Greg Jennings will meet with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday.

  • Golden Eagles deserve respect

If you asked college basketball fans outside of Wisconsin what teams tied for first place in the Big East Conference, what percentage of fans would correctly include Marquette? It seems like the Golden Eagles (23-7), ranked 12 in the most recent AP top 25, have been a national afterthought all season long.

  • Top 10 coaching meltdowns

When Indiana University men's basketball coach, Tom Crean erupted on Michigan assistant Jeff Meyer last weekend, it reminded me of another hot-tempered coach who sometimes rubbed people the wrong way while he coached in Bloomington. I started You Tube searching for those epic moments when Bobby Knight turned into "Hurricane Bobby" - destroying whatever was in his path.

  • Packers place 2nd round tender on Sam Shields

On the day the 2013-2014 NFL league year officially begins, the Green Bay Packers have placed a second-round tender on restricted free agent cornerback, Sam Shields. This according to profootballtalk.com.

  • Tom Crean goes off on Michigan assistant

After Indiana's stunning 72-71 win over Michigan on Sunday, Hoosiers Head Coach Tom Crean completely lost it. Crean had to be held back as he screamed at Michigan assistant Jeff Meyer. Crean called it a "professional misunderstanding" on Monday. I call it being a jerk.

  • Big East Tournament Bracket

The Big East Tournament will be held at Madison Square Garden March 12-16, and the Marquette Golden Eagles (23-7) will be the number three seed. Marquette finished in a three-way tie atop the Big East with Georgetown and Louisville, but the way the tiebreaker system works, Georgetown will be the number one seed, followed by Louisville and Marquette.

  • Big Ten Tournament Bracket

After defeating Penn State, 63-60 on Sunday afternoon, the Wisconsin Badgers (21-10) finished the Big Ten season at 12-6, tied with Michigan for fourth place in the conference. Due to their head-to-head win over the Wolverines, the Badgers have earned the number four seed in the conference tournament, and will have a first round bye for the thirteenth straight tournament.

  • Hart on schedule, off crutches after positive MRI

Brewers first baseman Corey Hart is bored. His rehab is tedious, and he hates the clunky brace, ace bandage, and single crutch he has been required to use during the non-weight bearing portion of his rehab.

  • Thornburg shines in second spring start

Pitching in his third cactus league game of the spring, Brewers prospect Tyler Thornburg cruised harmlessly through three innings against the Texas Rangers at Maryvale Baseball Park on Friday. Heavy rain and hail have forced the game to be canceled in the bottom of the 4th inning with the Rangers leading 2-0.
