The World Series kicks off tonight in San Francisco as the Giants host the Detroit Tigers. Without a horse in the race, I'm casually pulling for Detroit. A piece of me wants to see Prince Fielder earn a championship. Another piece of me just loves Tigers Manager, Jim Leyland.

The 3-3 Packers will complete three game road swing Sunday afternoon at the 3-3 St. Louis Rams. St. Louis has already won more games than all of last season, and seem to be a much more professional bunch under new Head Coach Jeff Fisher. Meanwhile, the Packers are coming off their most impressive win of the season - a 42-24 thrashing of the Houston Texans last Sunday night.

The Green Bay Packers (2-3) are in Houston to take on the red hot Texans (5-0) in a prime-time matchup under the lights at Reliant Stadium. Mike McCarthy has never coached a game in Reliant Stadium, but the Packers are 4-0 all-time in Houston. The last time the Packers played in the most air-conditioned city in America, it was 2004. The Packers won that game 16-13, and their leading rusher was...Walter Williams. (???)

"Those guys are nuts!" A common phrase muttered in reference to rugby players. They run around at high speeds with no padding and reckless abandon. They find American football players to be a bit childish, what with all their padding and what not.

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Green Bay Packers running back, Cedric Benson will miss at least eight weeks with a Lisfranc foot sprain. This is quite a blow to a running back unit that is largely inexperienced behind Benson. As of now, Alex Green, James Starks, and Brandon Saine are in the mix to see playing time in Benson's absence. They have a combined seven years experience.

Since the start of free agency in 1993, the Packers (14) and Colts (13) have made more playoff appearances than any other teams in the league. Combined they have three world titles in that time frame. The teams are in quite different positions in 2012. The Packers have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, while the Colts are working with a rookie quarterback in Andrew Luck, and a slew of skill position players with 2 years experience or less. Below are three things I'll be watching for in Sunday's game.

"Broke". The latest in a line of ESPN documentaries first aired on Wednesday. The documentary chronicles the perils of athletes who blew through their millions of dollars, and are now bankrupt. I'm sure it will re-air several times over the next month - just check you local listings. ESPN has done a phenomenal job with this series, and "Broke" is no exception.

Whenever a NFL team unveils new uniforms, quite often the "models" are a collection of skill players. The lean wide receiver, the chiseled running back, or the pretty boy quarterback. You never see an offensive lineman or nose tackle trot out for the photo op...and with good reason.
