Marquette to go pink on Saturday

The Marquette Golden Eagles men's basketball team will host (4) Villanova on Saturday afternoon at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. As part of the Coaches vs. Cancer awareness weekend, the Golden Eagles will wear symbolic pink uniforms. When I say "pink" I mean "pink".

  • NFL Network looking to sell Thursday Night Football

Remember in the 1990's when the NFL would air a spattering of games on Thursday night on TNT? Well, it could happen again. The NFL Network is reportedly looking to sell a portion of it's Thursday Night slate.

Woops! Florida State on-line shop screws up championship t-shirt

Tallahassee is still buzzing after Florida State's win over Auburn in the BCS National Championship game Monday night. Those looking to commemorate the win with a t-shirt better pay close attention. Florida State's official on-line store messed up one minor detail on a particular shirt - can you figure out what it is? Because the font may be too small, I'll give you a hint: look at the score. It suggests Auburn won 34-31. Nice one.

  • Notes from Mike McCarthy's Thursday press conference

The Green Bay Packers practiced outside in the elements Thursday morning in preparation for their Sunday afternoon playoff contest versus the San Francisco 49ers. Temperatures figure to be in the single digits or worse with a wind chill below zero for Sunday's game (Tom Coughlin's face is red just thinking about it). Below are some top-line notes from Mike McCarthy's post-practice press conference.

  • Updated Super Bowl odds

Now that the NFL playoff bracket is set, the folks in Las Vegas have determined the Super Bowl odds for all twelve teams. The list of odds below was developed by Bovada.

  • What Bears fans are saying after the loss

For the third consecutive season, the Green Bay Packers emerged as champions of the NFC North division. Following a thrilling 33-28 win over the Chicago Bears, the Packers will host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, January 5 at 3:40pm. Two plays from yesterday's game really stood out.

  • What Bears fans are saying after the loss to the Eagles

Despite a 38-31 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers playoff hopes are still very much alive following the Bears loss to the Eagles Sunday night. The Bears knew before the game what was at stake: win, and they would sew up the NFC North division and host a playoff game. The result: a non-competitive 54-11 loss. Unbelievable. The Bears will host the Packers in the regular season finale on 12/29. The winner will advance to the playoffs as a division winner, while the loser will have their season come to an end.

  • Notes from Mike McCarthy's Wednesday press conference

The Packers hit the practice field for the first time this week Wednesday. At 7-6-1, the Packers control their own destiny in regards to making the playoffs. If they beat the Steelers (home) and Bears (road), they will win the NFC North and host at least one playoff game.

  • Jaguars mascot beats Jim Furyk in 'Closest to pin' challenge

I've mentioned this several times, but it's worth repeating: I have a bizarre fascination with mascots. Usually the loveable, larger than life creatures end up the butt of an in-game joke, but not the case on Sunday in Jacksonville. Jaguars mascot went head-to-head against 16-time PGA Tour winner Jim Furyk in a closest-to-the-pin challenge, and won!

  • What Lions fans are saying after the the Ravens

The Green Bay Packers path to the playoffs became less complicated following the Detroit Lions 18-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens Monday night. Ravens kicker Justin Tucker connected on a 61 yard field goal with :38 seconds remaining to give the Ravens a rare road win.

  • Notes from Mike McCarthy's Wednesday press conference

The Packers began on-field preparation for the Atlanta Falcons Wednesday in Green Bay. As expected, quarterback Aaron Rodgers was a limited participant, and Matt Flynn took reps as the starter. After a perfect October, the Packers went winless in the month of November. In order to make the playoffs, they will likely need to win all four December games, and hope the Detroit Lions lose two of their final four.

  • Giannis Needs to Play

We are just over one month into the NBA season and one thing appears crystal clear: The Milwaukee Bucks will be a lottery team. With a record of 3-13, the Bucks are tied with the NY Knicks for the worst record in the eastern conference. Injuries (both on and off the court), lack of star power, and adjusting to a new coach and system have proven too much for the Bucks to overcome in the early going.

  • What Vikings fans are saying after the tie

Just when you think you've seen everything from the Green Bay Packers, they played the Minnesota Vikings to a 26-26 tie on a blustery, cold Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field.

  • Notes from Mike McCarthy's Wednesday press conference

The Packers hit the practice field Wednesday in preparation for Sunday's contest against the Minnesota Vikings. Scott Tolzien will make his first start at Lambeau Field Sunday. Meanwhile, Vikings Head Coach Leslie Frazier announced Wednesday that Christian Ponder will start for Minnesota. Ponder was benched in the Vikings week 11 loss to the Seahawks following interceptions on back-to-back drives in the 4th quarter.

  • NBA Christmas Day uniforms unveiled

The NBA has unveiled a collection of uniforms to be worn by the teams playing on Christmas Day. The uniforms, complete with short sleeves, will be worn by the Bulls, Thunder, Lakers, Warriors, Rockets and Heat.

  • Notes from Mike McCarthy's Wednesday press conference

The Packers hit the practice field for the first time this week on Wednesday. As expected, quarterback Scott Tolzien took the bulk of the snaps at quarterback. Matt Flynn, wearing his familiar number 10, was also on the field for the first time since being signed by the Packers on Tuesday. For the first time this season, defensive lineman Jerel Worthy and safety Sean Richardson practiced; and Clay Matthews gave it a go without the clunky club on his hand.

  • What Bears fans are saying after the the Lions

Perhaps this will make some Packers fans feel better about the loss to the Eagles. The Chicago Bears (5-4) suffered an agonizing 21-19 loss to the Detroit Lions (6-3) Sunday afternoon in Chicago. Just three weeks removed from a groin tear, Jay Cutler started the game at quarterback, but suffered an ankle injury in the 2nd quarter. Cutler was replaced by backup Josh McCown in the 4th.

  • Notes from Mike McCarthy's Thursday press conference

The Packers hit the practice field for the second time this week on Thursday. It was day number two of the Seneca Wallace show at quarterback. It was also day number two of practice (this week) for linebackers Clay Matthews and Nick Perry. The Packers hope to have both back on the field Sunday afternoon against the Eagles, but we won't know their status until Saturday I presume. Below are some top-line notes from Mike McCarthy's post-practice press conference.
