Ever since the first Viking fan tried to make me think that Brett Favre would never go about is 'business' the same way he did in Green Bay I've been waiting for this day.
To be perfectly honest, I don't care if he stays or he retires - but I love that Vikings fans are now being drug through the same symbolic mud that Packers fans were just a few years ago. Fortunately for the Packers, they had a guy in Aaron Rodgers ready to take over. The Vikings don't quite have the same luxury with Tavaris Jackson.
Back to the fans. Shortly after the reports surrounding Favre's apparent decision to retire surfaced, page after page of reader comments hit the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Some highlights...
...After leaving the team dangling the entire off-season, he's cemented his legacy of being a complete and total narcissist and a world-class jerk. I have no problem with a guy deciding he's done...no problem with the retirement itself, but you do it early in the off-season so that your team can react and replace you. ...I for one am tired of this prima-donna. I mean holy cow, the NFL will go on without him. I have however, been inclined to believe that if he did play this year, it would likely not be at last year's level. That being said, he is still better than our other options...
