Randy Wolf Severs Finger In Blender; Out Until July
...OK that didn't happen, but would it be that big a shock if it did? I mean the Brewers are the only major sports team in the state who haven't been hit with tragic news in the last few days. My goodness - how many groin kicks can a person take in a three day span?
GROIN KICK #1: Marquette, after trailing 6th ranked Villanova by 22 in the second half, mounted a furious comeback, but turned the ball over on their last possession to lose by two, 78-76. The Golden Eagles have lost three Big East Conference games by a total of 5 points.
GROIN KICK #2: The Wisconsin Badgers celebrated their 73-66 victory over previously unbeaten and 4th ranked Purdue at the Kohl Center and moved up to #13 in the AP poll. Then the news comes that junior Jon Leuer suffered a fractured wrist during the game. Leuer will have surgery this week and be out until the end of February or early March. Leuer was averaging 15.4 PPG and 6.2 RPG for the Badgers.
GROIN KICK #3: The final play of the Packers/Cardinals game. No need to go too far into detail...all Packers fans saw it, all vomited a little, and all slept poorly Sunday night. There were actually several groin kicks in this game...so much so that I would actually consider the entire game one giant, Gulliver sized boot to the area.
GROIN KICK #4: The Bucks have confirmed that veteran guard Michael Redd will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee during Sunday's game against the Lakers. Though some will argue that Redd isn't vital to the success of the team, his loss is equally as damaging off the court. With one year left on a max contract, the Bucks would likely have had some suiters for Redd's expiring contract at the end of the season. With Redd out, the Bucks have little flexibility.
How does this stuff all happen in one weekend? I'll have to dig for a more scientific answer to that question, but for now, I'll just blame it on the yearly January Wisconsin groin kick...the weather.
