SMACK TALK: What Cardinals Fans Are Saying About Sunday's Game

  • Print

For the last several days, I've been engrossed in the local and national coverage of the Packers / Cardinals game. Interesting to me is how many of the national pundits are picking the Packers to win this game. I'm certainly in the camp with the majority, but was curious to learn what Cardinals fans were saying about the match up...I wasn't shocked:

...Charles Woodson is a great talent and the Packers have a good defense. This is a great test for the Cards. The world does not believe the Cards have a running game and this game is a great opportunity for the Cards to start their Super Bowl run. Packers are young and unproven and will be coming in with big heads and lazy bellies. They won't know what hit them. Cards get up big and early. Packers lose their composure and think Rodgers can bring them back at once, leading to turnovers and a solid Cards win. Prediction Cards 37 Packers 13...

...I think Coach (Whisenhunt) might have some plays up his sleeve that will make Woody put down the wine and take up a different kind of whine...

...Hope you Packers fans had fun winning a meaningless game. Were going for the big WIN. SUPER BOWL here we come...

...Sign that is hung at Packer games "3/4 of the world is covered by water, the other 1/4 is covered by Woodson". The guy is everywhere on the field making plays against the run, pressuring the QB and his coverage is one of the best in the game, either reading in zones or man to man. Going to be a tough game this week if the Cards go without Boldin...

...I think Green Bay is a dangerous opponent, but to say it’s inconceivable for us to beat them is a huge exaggeration. We’re not playing the 70’s Steelers, the 80’s 49’ers, or the 90’s Cowboys. If we play the way we’re capable of playing we’re moving on...

...I’d prefer them to be the underdogs throughout the playoffs. The more these players hear that, the better they play...

...The Arizona Cardinals thrive off of the underdog role. I know Vegas has them as a 2.5 point favorite, but I would say, from what I have read and seen, that more than 75% of the sports media is picking the Packers to win, not by a slim margin, but win BIG! The Cardinals coaching staff and players will be READY! Trust me on that...

...Cards 40, Pack 31...

...Anyone know why the people from Wisconsin are fat and ugly and the people from Minnesota are the opposite? Google "Cheese Curds"...

...How did it (the Vegas line) get even? The Cards lost three starters and the Packers STILL can't even get 1 point over the Cards? Can't you guys do better than even, zero points? Where is all that cocky confidence all ESPN writers and sports media experts gave the Pack????...

Pretty much what I expected (sigh). What's going to happen to these people when the Packers win 34-20? They'll will all come back and say "we" didn't do this and "we" didn't do that. It's as if they're playing in the game for chrissake. Leave that garbage at the curb...this is the Packers and Cardinals game to play, and the fans' to watch and enjoy.

I also ran into a chain of messages where a Cardinals fan ridiculed a Packers fan who has lived in Arizona for the last 20 years. The Cardinals fan couldn't understand in his little sun fried brain how a WI transplant could still cheer for the Packers after having left the state so long ago.  The Packers fan responded by saying it was a birthright...something true Packers fans understand. The Cardinals fan responded with something to the effect of being born in Russia, but moving to the US, but still cheering for Russia.

The Packers are family to all who cheer for them. The Cardinals bolted out of St. Louis for warm weather, a retractable field, and a 75% full stadium...no wonder he doesn't get it. Fool.

Go Pack.
