Big East Tournament Bracket

  • Print

The Big East Tournament will be held at Madison Square Garden March 12-16, and the Marquette Golden Eagles (23-7) will be the number three seed. Marquette finished in a three-way tie atop the Big East with Georgetown and Louisville, but the way the tiebreaker system works, Georgetown will be the number one seed, followed by Louisville and Marquette.

Because they finished in the top four of the conference, Marquette will receive a double bye in the tournament. Their first game will be a quarterfinal match Thursday afternoon against Rutgers, DePaul or Notre Dame.

The Big East Tournament is an absolute gauntlet, and while the double bye can be looked at as a luxury, Marquette did not reap the benefits in 2012. The Golden Eagles were the number two seed in the 2012 tournament, earned a double bye, and were pounded in the first game, 84-71 to Louisville. After earning a share of the Big East title, the Golden Eagles are most certainly riding a high - here's to hoping they can ride that wave of momentum to a conference title.
