Wizards beat Pistons! Wait a minute..."dagger" call retracted.

  • Print

The Milwaukee Bucks buzzer-beating win over the Houston Rockets wasn't the only dramatic finish in the NBA on Wednesday night.

The closing seconds of the Washington Wizards game against the Detroit Pistons was equally dramatic, but the results were...well...confusing.

With just seconds remaining in the game and the Wizards trailing by one, Trevor Ariza launched a three-pointer from the corner and hit nothing but net - the outside of the net.

Steve Buckhantz from the Wizards radio network thought Ariza made the shot and called it a "dagger". The dagger was later retracted when Buckhantz saw the Wizards players looking dejected before seeing the replay. The Wizards, in fact, lost 96-95.

I must admit, the first time I watched the video in real-time, I thought the ball went through the hoop. I feel for you Steve.
