IOC eliminates wrestling from 2020 Olympics. Here's a short list of other sports that have been axed.
What sports do you think of when you think about the summer Olympics? For me, track and field, gymnastics, swimming and wrestling are the four that come to mind. On Tuesday, we learned that wrestling, a sport that dates back to the 1896 games, will be eliminated after the 2016 games. When you consider trampolining, dressage, and the modern pentathlon still exist, the elimination of wrestling is mind-boggling.
Eliminating one sport will allow the IOC to add a new sport to the roster later this year. For those keeping score at home, baseball and softball were the last sports to be eliminated by the IOC.
