Six state recruits headline UW football's 2013 incoming class
As of the mid-afternoon on Wednesday, the Wisconsin Badgers football program has offered scholarships to, and received commitments from, seventeen high school seniors.
Six of the players hale from the state of Wisconsin. The group includes DL Alec James (Brookfield East) and Chikwe Obisah (Brookfield Central). ESPN's scouting department lists James as the top recruit coming out of the state of Wisconsin, and Obisah the second ranked. Rivals, another popular scouting source, lists Obisah as the number one recruit, and James as number two.
Either way you look at it, the Badgers have done a nice job retaining the top high school seniors from the state.
Others recruits from Wisconsin include OL Hayden Biegel (Wis. Rapids), DB Matt Hubley (Waukesha Catholic Memorial), WR Jazz Peavy (Kenosha Tremper), and TE T.J. Watt (Pewaukee).
According to ESPN, Wisconsin has the 33rd best recruiting class in the nation, two spots behind the University of Arkansas where former Badgers Head Coach Bret Bielema has taken over.
The top five recruiting classes, according to ESPN, are Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Ole Miss.
