Former NBA journeyman humbles "street" critics

  • Print

How many times have you watched an NBA game and wondered, "...how in the heck can THAT guy be in the league? I'm better than that guy!"

For some, the object of such comments and criticism over the years was veteran Brian Scalabrine. The 6'9" Scalabrine played 11 seasons in the NBA for four teams and retired after the 2011-2012 season.  For his career, Scalabrine averaged just over 3 points and 2 rebounds per game.

So how do guys like Scalabrine wind up making millions of dollars in the NBA over a career than spanned more than a decade? Well it's not because he sucks.

Recently, as part of a radio stunt, Scalabrine went one-on-one against four talented Boston-area ball players who thought they could take it to the big man.
