Some key dates on the NFL calendar

  • Print

Now that the Green Bay Packers season has come to an end, it's time to look ahead to the 2013-2014 season. Before the 2013 kickoff weekend there are several key dates on the NFL calendar to pay attention to. I outlined several below. Make sure to enter each of these into your smartphone.

January 19: East-West Shrine Game; St. Petersburg, FL.

January 20: AFC and NFC championship games.

January 27: Pro Bowl; Honolulu, HI.

February 3: Super Bowl; New Orleans, LA.

March 9-11: Teams can enter negotiations with agents of players who are unrestricted free agents.

March 12: The 2013 league year, free agency and trading period begins at 3:00pm CST. Teams must exercise options for players who have an option clause in their 2012 contract. Teams may also submit qualifying offers to their restricted free agents with expiring contracts.

March 17-20: Annual league meetings in Phoenix, AZ.

April 25-27: NFL Draft

Mid-July: Start of NFL training camps

September 5, 8-9: 2013 NFL season begins

It will be a few months before we learn the Packers schedule for the 2013-2014 season, but we do know their opponents. For those keeping score at home, the Packers will play ten games against teams with winning records in 2012 (six playoff teams).

HOME: Chicago, Minnesota, Detroit, Philadelphia, Washington, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Atlanta

AWAY: Chicago, Minnesota, Detroit, Dallas, NY Giants, San Francisco, Baltimore, Cincinnati
