Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy addressed the media at Lambeau Field following Wednesday's practice. Below are some notes from the session.
DID NOT PRACTICE: Charles Woodson, CJ Wilson, Davon House, Jordy Nelson, James Starks
LIMITED AT PRACTICE: Clay Matthews, Donald Driver, TJ Lang, Terrell Manning, Mike Neal, Marshall Newhouse
NOTES:
- Charles Woodson was frustrated today...feels ready to play, but Doctors have determined that holding him out of the Bears game is the best decision.
- Clay Matthews was back, but limited. Good to have him back, and he will hopefully play on Sunday. Thursday's practice will be a good test for Clay.
- Jordy Nelson is considered a long-shot for this weekend (hamstring).
- Wouldn't call a game differently based upon opposing team's defense. That being said, ball security is a focus for this week.
- Didn't realize the Bears have lost 4 of last 5 games. Focus is on how they play, what they do, and how we [Packers] match-up.
- McCarthy's advice to team regarding "bulletin board" material: Don't tell 'em nothin'.
- Lots of respect for Bears defense. Aaron will spend more time in film room preparing given Bears defensive abilities.
- This year has represented a significant challenge to Rodgers given the rotating personnel.
- TJ Lang worked inside at guard today, and looked pretty good. Needs to get through the week before a decision is made on if or where he plays.
- Neal's ability to practice was a bit of a surprise today. Not sure if CJ Wilson will be able to play the rest of the regular season.
- Is appreciative of what Aaron Rodgers has done to have his own day, and appreciates that Rodgers is using the opportunity to raise money for charity.
Also - Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has been tweeting comments from Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall from the Bears locker room today. I'm not sure if teams actually have a bulletin board in the locker room...I've never seen one...but Marshall's comments would certainly quality as "bulletin board material" for the Packers.
I'll make sure to post a link to the comments as soon as I see them in article form.
