Major League Baseball's non-waiver trade deadline is set for 3:00pm CST on July 31st. The date marks the very latest Brewers fans will know where ace Zack Greinke will be pitching for the remainder of the 2012 season.
At 42-46, the Brewers trail the Cincinnati Reds by 8 games in the NL Central. While six games against division opponents will help shape the immediate future of the team, the long-range forecast for the Brewers, with or without Greinke, is cloudy. To reach 90 wins, the Brewers will need to go 48-26 over the final 74 games.
One thing is for certain. The Brewers will not be in a rush to deal Greinke before the deadline. They will play things out as long as possible in order to maximize his starts.
CBS sports columnist Jon Heyman takes a look at the potential suitors for Greinke, and what they make have in exchange for the Brewers ace.
