If you thought you had seen the last of former St. Louis Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa, guess again.
According to MLB.com, La Russa will assume an unofficial, and non-uniform wearing role as an assistant with the Detroit Tigers during spring training.
According to Tigers Manager Jim Leyland, “Tony’s going to be down for a couple weeks. He’s going to work with Dave (Dombrowski) in the front office, and he’s going over to Jupiter for a few days and then go out to Arizona for a few days. He will not be in uniform.”
Shortly after announcing his retirement, La Russa stated he would be interested in other positions around the league. Its not clear if his duties will extend beyond spring training.
