I'm not sure why "Jeff Suppan returning" stories are so fascinating to me, they just are. At the age of 37, Suppan is leaving his restaurant job (at HIS restaurant), for a spring training invite from the San Diego Padres.
If Suppan makes the team, he will earn a $950,000 salary.
Suppan spent 16 seasons in the major leagues with the Royals, Cardinals, Brewers, Red Sox, Diamondbacks, and Giants. He compiled a record of 138-143 with an ERA of 5.69.
By the way, if you're ever in the Woodland Hills, CA area, check out Soup's Sports Grill. It looks better than I imagine his fastball will.
