Madison area native Steve Stricker opened the 2012 golf season with a win at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions yesterday at Kapalua.
Stricker fired a 4-under-par 69 to finish at 23-under for the tournament, 3 strokes ahead of Martin Laird.
"I never let up today," Stricker said afterwards. "It's always tough trying to win, and it's even more tough when you have a lead like I did. I'm very proud of what I did today.
It was Stricker's ninth PGA Tour win since he turned 40, and he is currently ranked 5th in the world.
