Milwaukee Brewers closer John Axford...and his mustache...are up for a prestigious award this Friday in Chicago. Axford is a finalist for the Robert Goulet Mustached American of the Year Award, and the winner will be announced at the "Stache Bash" on Friday. Axford is hoping to become the second winner from major league baseball. The Diamondbacks, Clay Zavada was honored with the award two years ago.
The award is given each year by the American Mustache Institute, the leading think tank for facial hair issues. AMI did a survey of the most mustache friendly cities - Milwaukee came in at number 6.
The event will be held at Joe's Bar on Weed Street in the Wrigleyville neighborhood of Chicago. The party is the kickoff to Movember, the global mustache growing charity campaign that raises money and awareness for cancers affecting men.
