Who'd have thought Jerry Springer, Ricki Lake and Maury Povich would help heal a schism among Catholics and Protestants?
It's been about 15 years since I changed religions, leaving the Lutheran Church/Missouri Synod to become Catholic. One of the major differences I had to learn about was the sacrament of confession (or "reconciliation" as it's called now). Lutherans didn't have it--Catholics always did.
It may not stay that way for long, and part of the reason may be the confessional culture we've generated as a nation via talk shows like those mentioned above.
