This Won't Help The Search For The Real Killers...
O.J. Simpson may be, as Keith Olberman would say, "the WORST PERSON...IN THE WORLD!"
He's jailed as of this writing, up on a host of charges in connection with an incident in a Las Vegas hotel room last week.
The Juice may be guilty as sin, and finally be headed for the jug.
That said, we're guilty, too.
We're convicted of creating a market for sports memorabilia, which, when it comes down to brass tacks, is what this whole new Simpson scenario is about.
Some of us pay big money for what is supposed to be something that's valued for sentimental reasons, not as a commodity. It's why I personally soured on baseball card collectiing. For as much as I love sports, the stuff I have in my man-cave is for decorative reasons, not for investment. I have virtually nothing of value because I don't want to contribute to what I consider an inflamed, overpriced market that reduces a treasured autograph into what amounts to a commodities future.
Fox Sports had a pretty pithy column about this very point--read it here.
