The Cold Filtered Ramblings of Gene Mueller

Rick Majerus: gone but not forgotten amid March's Madness

  • Print

Rick Majerus left this mortal coil months ago but his St. Louis Billikens basketball team is keeping the coach's memory alive and putting together a heck of a run in the process.

The New York Times followed the team as it played through the heartache of Majerus' death last fall while playing the kind of hoop he would've been very proud of.

If you're from these parts, you're probably rooting for Marquette or Wisconsin, waiting anxiously for Sunday to see where each ends up in the NCAA brackets.

Some of us might be keeping an eye on St. Louis this March, too, hoping the ride continues for a classy program that learned its lessons quite well at the feet of a basketball master.
