The Cold Filtered Ramblings of Gene Mueller

Sometimes The Best Sportswriting Has Nothing To Do With Sports

I started my Wednesday, not with a shower and shave, but with a good solid cry.

I started my day as I usually do, stumbling out of bed to the keyboard to get caught up on the world and what I missed as I slept.    There, on Twitter, was a tweet from Packers running back Ryan Grant to Journal/Sentinel beat reporter Lori Nickel.   It contains a link to a blog Lori wrote about Grant and a child that the injured player befriended while Grant recovers from a season-ending ankle injury.

I won't even try to sum it up.   I certainly can't try reading it on the air--I'll puddle up by the third paragraph.

Please read it and tell me it doesn't change the way you look at this pro athlete.    Tell me it doesn't change the way you'll observe Thanksgiving tomorrow.

        Have a great holiday.
