This baseball season has given us more than our share of bad calls including one that cost a Detroit Tigers pitcher a perfect game.
Eagle-eyed fans are now looking for ANY evidence of arbiter malfeasance, especially those pushing for replay or the injection of other forms of high-tech electronics into the game.
The most recent example comes from Florida where the Marlins were deprived of a 9th inning win over the Phils Thursday night as umpire Bob Davidson called a ball foul--one that looked to be a potential game-saving extra base hit down the third base line at first glance. I'd heard some buzz about what happened on my way into work Friday morning, and listened to the radio play-by-play call, as well as some of the post-game comments.
I didn't actually see the play until much later this morning, and, upon further review, me thinks Mr. Davidson might've gotten the call right.
