I admit that I should have seen this coming. After all, I wrote the book that essentially predicted that we are rapidly becoming a nation with more takers than makers:

It's what's for breakfast today. I was not just wrong about the Wisconsin Pres/Senate results, I was awesomely wrong. I'll be joined at the crow buffet by my good friend the former-gold standard of pundits, Michael Barone.

This time around, we weren't subject to the full frontal starry eyed messianic gush of four years ago, but the political media found other ways to beclown itself again this cycle.

I'm already on record saying that I think Mitt Romney will win both the popular and electoral votes for three reasons: 1. the economy, 2. his edge among independents and 3. turnout of an enthusiastic, motivated conservative base. This analysis seems to be shared by others, including Michael Barone, Jay Cost, and George Will. Here are two more predictions, which I chose because, well, I completely agree. If we're wrong, we're all going down together!

I wanted to write this piece before the election, so that it won't look like rationalization in the event of an Obama victory. But this seems like an overlooked story:

UPDATED Yes, I know that I have repeatedly derided the importance of newspaper endorsements. So why am I linking to two three of them this morning? Because they both come from papers that backed Obama four years and are now making the case for changing directions. Both make compelling cases for dumping Obama in the heart of Obama country. Monday morning should be, um, interesting at both shops.

This has tended to get lost in the hyper-focus on the presidential race, but Republican control of the House of representatives is a near certainty, and Wisconsin's two Republican freshman -- Reid Ribble and Sean Duffy -- are favored to hold their seats. Both of them won seats that were won by Democrats in the Obama wave of 2008 and should have been hyper-vulnerable in what was supposed to be the second Obama wave in 2012.

Grim, but inevitable. We're starting to get a glimpse of what Obamacare is going to mean for employees around here. Of course, the president promised us that if we like our insurance we could keep it. If voters believed him, many of them are in for a rude shock. Bonus here: this suggests that the fiscal impact of Obamacare will be much worse than projected as far more businesses make the decision to off-load the costs onto the taxpayers.
