The country may have wanted leadership, but the president is giving them red meat, old fashioned class warfare. Us vs. Them. If you expected conciliation, hope, unity, forget it. This was an ugly performance. Expect more "unexpected," economic fallout now that the president has launched against the nation's producers. This is actually from the AP report:

HT Christian Schneider: In case you don't recognize the folks in this ad endorsing uber-liberal Justice Shirley Abrahamson that is (1) Judge Maryann Sumi and (2) Dane County Sheriff David Mahoney.... Mahoney is now charged with investigating the charges against Abrahamson critic Justice David Prosser. Abrahamson will be a key witness and the case will turn on the credibility of the various witnesses. Conflict? Much? Seriously, he needs to recuse himself ASAP.

Senate candidate Shelly Moore channels her inner Jimmy Hoffa in this clip where she compares the state's largest teachers union to the mafia... and she means it in a good way. She is the Democrat candidate in the recall campaign against Sheila Harsdorf in Northwestern Wisconsin.

So why can't I find this in the Dead Tree? Via the Weekly Standard. "A public records request by Wisconsin Republicans has revealed that Democratic state senate candidate Shelly Moore used public resources to organize her campaign against Republican senator Sheila Harsdorf. The documents show that Moore, a union official and high school English teacher, sent a number of emails organizing recall efforts during school hours while school was in session."

Why this timeline? Notes Bill Kristol: "So why September 2012? Because, one has to conclude, Election Day is November 6, 2012. The September deadline will allow candidate Obama to say that he has completely withdrawn the surge forces, and that we're on our way out of Afghanistan and coming home. The timetable President Obama has set isn't based on military considerations, diplomatic strategies, or financial calculations. It's based on the election calendar of candidate Obama."
