KLEEFISCH REPORT: WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BALANCED BUDGETS?

The state is withholding $10.1 million dollars in payments to municipalities right now because they don't have the cash. Can you imagine if you or I did that? "Sorry, mortgage company...I'm a little short this month!" or "Hey, energy company, you just keep the lights on--I'm good for it! Eventually!" They need to withhold that money because in fact they have a $2.71 billion dollar budget deficit right now. How's that balanced budget working out for you?

  1. What happened to balanced budgets? I dunno. What happened to all the Swine Flu coverage? I dunno. They both go to the "government graveyard."
  2. How about we hold back paychecks for the politicians. They should get paid last since they created this mess.
  3. Is this woman for real? Individuals have credit card debt up the wazoo, which is nothing more than a individual budget deficit. We haven't had a surplus for a generation. She is just finding this out.
  4. She is bringing up lost knowlege. My wife and I ran deficits years ago. We made a change to running a surplus even though we don't make a lot. When everything started to hit bottom in '08, we had the money to start buying. Buffet said "Be fearfull when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearfull". You can follow the herd and spend more than you have or be a contrarian and have financial security. It is a choice that people forgot they have.
