WEDNESDAY HOT READ: HARRY'S BUNDLE OF GOODIES

The Wall Street Journal on Harry Reid's vote-buying special interest favors.

Blanche Lincoln and Evan Bayh must feel like saps. The Arkansas and Indiana Democrats spent months caterwauling about this or that provision in the Senate health-care bill, then at 1 a.m. Monday they voted to speed its passage without getting so much as a lousy T-shirt.

In Harry Reid's Senate, this qualifies as dereliction of duty, as the Majority Leader said himself on Monday in defense of his frantic deal-making to get 60 votes. "I don't know if there is a Senator that doesn't have something in this bill that was important to them," Mr. Reid said at a press conference that offered an unintentional commentary on modern democracy. "And if they don't have something in it important to them, then it doesn't speak well of them."

  1. The whole thing is sickening. People who are opposed to this should plan on heading for Washington right after the new year and hols massive protests. Health care needs to be fixed. You and I and two of our friends could do a better job than these criminals in Washington!
  2. And Sen. Harkin is comparing Reid to Biblical figures: Job, Samson and Solomon (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=121791736). How hypocritical!
  3. I don’t EVER want to hear another democrat (liberal, socialist, progressive or what ever you go by in the future) say that Republicans are the problem with American politics. For all the bad things that were said about President Bush at least he reached across the isle to Kerry, Kennedy, Lieberman and the rest of the liberals (too much some times for my liking). This pack of wild dogs in the White House (democrats), are all fighting over America’s Carcass and it’s not pretty.
  4. Voting like thieves in the night.
