Who else? Charles Krauthammer on The One's flat Afghanistan speech.

WASHINGTON -- We shall fight in the air, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields, we shall fight in the hills -- for 18 months. Then we start packing for home.

We shall never surrender -- unless the war gets too expensive, in which case, we shall quote Eisenhower on "the need to maintain balance in and among national programs" and then insist that "we can't simply afford to ignore the price of these wars."

The quotes are from President Obama's West Point speech announcing the Afghanistan troop surge. What a strange speech it was -- a call to arms so ambivalent, so tentative, so defensive.

Which made his last-minute assertion of "resolve unwavering" so hollow. It was meant to be stirring. It fell flat...

    What I can say about this is that he has disappointed most of the people who voted for him. I am one of those he disappointed. To think that ANYONE would support the continuing of ANY Bush policies is SICK. George Bush was a gift to the demoractic party. Now we are just screwing it up. The republicans used him and his policies to bolster their ignorant positions, fleece us for our money, run up incredible debt, while our country fell apart. Thanks Republicans

    It's funny, I turn Charlie on the other day prior to the speech by Obama, and Charlie has lost it. Charlie supported the Iraq war blindly, I kept calling in everytime he thought he won the war... He just called me a Bush Hater as I warned him we could not afford these wars. As consumers stopped spending (70% of our economy). Now Charlie would have you believe he wants Obama to re-afirm the war on terror. Have we not learned anything. Charlie U R SICK
