  1. If you don't admit what Hasan did had anything to do with religion, you don't have to think about whether his religion was "true Islam". A lot of people will go to any length to avoid facing THAT question, because doing so (as we eventually must) will bring many cherished notions into question.
  2. Churchill: "An appeaser is someone who feeds the crocodile, hoping it eats him last". Quick to tag "tea-baggers", right-wing nut-jobs, bitter clingers, etc. I'm surprised the MSM didn't just give his rank and serial number when reporting for fear that it would paint extreme Muslim terrorists in a bad light. FYI: George and Laura Bush quietly met with many of the families at Ft. Hood for hours listening and comforting them. THAT is an American president.
  3. Cherised notions? I think we all understand that religious extremism leads to violence. Look at the fringe of the pro-life mov't. People do not paint this movement as terrorists b/c of the actions of a few. However, there is a very real concern among some that the entire islamic community will be branded "terrorists" by this nut job. Do we really want to replay the post 9/11 roundups of all middle-easterns?
  4. to bannedcat maybe not round up all the middle easterns but we sure shouldn't be handicaped because of political correctness. There is a true enemy that lies specifically in the islamic religion. The radical islamic terrorists, and we must recognize they are who they are, and what they stand for, and they must be stopped
