Scott Walker is calling out Jim Doyle:

Charlie,

The state unemployment rate hit 9.4% and the response from Jim Doyle’s administration is pathetically predictable: Doyle’s Secretary of the Workforce Development said that the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act passed this year will help put Wisconsinites back to work."

Harley-Davidson announced that they will now layoff up to 400 more employees (on top of the 1,100 announced in January). Spending more federal "stimulus" funds to bail out state and local government budgets will not help Harley.

Instead of pretending that spending more federal tax dollars will fix the economy, it is time to get real about saving jobs in Wisconsin. For starters, we must block Governor Doyle’s state budget proposal. Does anyone think that raising taxes by $2.9 billion will help the economy in Wisconsin?

Next, we need to reach out to existing businesses throughout Wisconsin to make sure that they are going to stay and eventually grow in Wisconsin. Had Governor Doyle done this with Thomas Industries, we could have saved 366 jobs and moved 40 more jobs to our state.

We need leadership in state government that has a real plan to put Wisconsin back to work instead of ways to raise taxes and increase government spending.

Scott
