Charlie Sykes: Sykes Writes

An Invitation from Wisconsin's First Lady

When you hear the following names what comes to mind? British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Governor Nikki Haley, Governor Susanna Martinez, Governor Jan Brewer, Congresswoman Michelle Bachman, Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice….

The answer is that they are conservative women who are either moving the world forward or have moved the world forward. The need for women on such a level is evidenced at home, in the workplace, in the political spectrum and in general areas of life.

In an effort to recognize the women who have come before us and that will continue to lead after us, the Journal Broadcast Group in conjunction with RightWisconsin.com  is putting together the first annual 2013 Right Women Awards Gala. I am proud to be the chairwoman of this inaugural gala celebrating the success of so many wonderful women!

We will honor four women that evening, including Thatcher Award winner, former Lt. Gov. Margaret Farrow.  Lt. Gov. Farrow is a woman who has stood strong for Wisconsin and provided the guidance to our great state that has helped shape the past, present & future. Other nominees for the other three awards include Senators Alberta Darling and Leah Vukmir, Barbara Lyons, Mary Kohler, Rachel Campos-Duffy, Deborah Tyler Harwood, Susan Mitchell, and Catherine Cleary (posthumously).

I look forward to seeing you at this very special event on the evening of Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Pfister in Milwaukee. This Black Tie Gala will begin with a Cocktail reception at 5:30pm. The evening will include dinner, dessert and the awards presentation.  The evening should be a wonderful opportunity to mix and mingle with the conservative leaders of our great state, many of which are women.

Please find the link to RSVP here. I am thrilled at the opportunity to celebrate the contributions of conservative women to this great state!

I look forward to seeing you at this wonderful event honoring the women who have given so much to our great state.

Regards,

First Lady Tonette Walker
