Standing Up For Rebecca
Thanks to Hilary Rosen’s attack on Ann Romney, we have a pretty good idea of what the left really thinks about women.
But then, those of us in Wisconsin, already had a pretty good idea.
In their cynical attempt to change the subject from the president’s failures, Democrats are loudly complaining about the “War on Women,” even while waging their own assault on conservative moms. Wisconsin Democrats are using the same playbook.
As we’ve seen, tolerant, compassionate liberals save some of their worst abuse for conservative minorities, but it is the war on conservative women that seems to bring out their very worst.
Michelle Malkin recently noted: "We conservative moms drive the Left and its feminist shills mad with our mere existence, our exercise of free will, our fierce belief in protecting our families from the Nanny State, our embrace of free-market principles, and our rejection of the perpetual victim/grievance mentality."
She was talking about conservative women like Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.
Other conservative moms have been subjected sexist attacks, but few have had to endure the volume of vile epithets raw hate directed at Becky. She has had to put up with the most despicable personal slurs – about her fight with cancer, her children, and her gender -- knowing that liberals and the media will simply look the other way.
Despite that, Rebecca is standing strong.
And it’s time to stand with her.
Take a moment to think about what is at stake here.
Rebecca Kleefisch is a powerful, independent professional woman, a compelling champion of conservative values and a tireless supporter of Governor Walker’s efforts to run Wisconsin around. Her efforts to bring business here have been single-minded, dogged, and have already begun to bear fruit.
And yet she faces the very real possibility of being recalled.
Democrats have figured out something that Republicans need to understand: Rebecca Kleefisch is a rising conservative star and they want to destroy her now, so they can get back to talking about the GOP’s “War on Women” without being distracted by effective and articulate conservative women like Becky.
This is a fight worth having. It’s one we have to win.
