Misunderstanding the economy... from the Weekly Standard.

The real puzzle is that, despite all of the political and economic setbacks they have encountered over the last year and a half, for some reason the president and his party cling to their mistaken belief that the economy is an army. There is still time to embrace a different course, and last week’s report that the administration is considering a payroll tax holiday is an encouraging sign. For now, though, the Democrats just keep on marching. Right off the cliff.

    The economy, to these regressives, is but a tool of war to their "army". The goal is to destroy all that we've built via capitalism. This article suggests that its some type of misunderstanding on the part of Obama and the left. Yes--in the sense that they have no clue from where wealth dervies. But they know exactly what they are trying to do. What they have not (and cannot) articulate is what they plan to replace our system with and why that will be better. Spooky stuff and we must defeat 'em.

    Team Obama's initial excuse is that they underestimated the seriousness of the economic decline? Are we supposed to assume that they understand it now? I think almost anybody else would have done a better job. Certainly, Clinton, McCain, Romney, etc. would have made the economy their priority 19 months ago.

    When our doltish prez says that he will lower taxes on 75% of the population, my question is why not lower taxes on 100%. It's that top 25% whose spending really kicks things in the butt and gets the economy moving. Poor people don't have disposable income. The people who spend enough to create jobs are the ones that this indiot has decided need to be punished for their success.
