Yes, I was completely surprised by all of the kind words on Friday; an I'm very grateful for the effort behind it and the sentiments expressed. Now, I have to figure out to somehow live up to all the hype...as we start Year 21.

State Superintendent Tony Evers makes no secret about his opposition to the school choice program and its expansion. "Our children are caught in the crossfire of an ideologically driven expansion of school vouchers that is financially reckless and academically unproven," said Evers in a recent statement.

Posted on RightWisconsin. Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch announced today on Midday with Charlie Sykes the appointment of 17 accomplished conservative women to the selection committee charged with choosing the winners of the first-ever Margaret Thatcher Award and accompanying Right Women Awards. Kleefisch is serving as chair of the selection committee. The awards will be handed out at the first annual Right Women Dinner on October 18, 2013. "The Right Women Awards is important because it identifies and salutes female leaders and role models in Wisconsin whose contributions to the state have impacted or altered history. The Right Women Awards will be a beacon for Wisconsin conservatives: something for conservative women to aspire to, a celebration of achievement and a call to action for further progress," said Kleefisch. "Because unique barriers have been identified as inhibiting the political candidacies of women in this male-dominated field, it is exciting and important to point to those risk-takers and problem-solvers who have chosen to take up the challenge and reward of public servant-hood. The women selected to choose the winners of the Right Women Awards will recognize hard-won victories and raise up those who will fight for Wisconsin." Several Republicans have been getting an earful in recent days from conservative supporters who believe the budget negotiations have been going in a bad direction. The main complaints? Too much spending, tax cuts that are too small, and a meager modification to the School Choice program that some are trying to sell as a statewide expansion.
