Michelle was born and raised in Milwaukee and she’s proud to call the Brew City home. Her radio career began at Wisconsin Public Radio in Madison, where she was an announcer and producer from 1999 to 2002.
Michelle first joined WTMJ in 2003 as a producer, but soon was on the air during the overnight shift. She then worked in the newsroom for several years. Yes, she was Michelle Kotecki at the time. She has since married into the name Richards.
Michelle left WTMJ for a time to pursue a career outside broadcasting. But radio eventually drew her back and Michelle is now the midday reporter and anchor on Newsradio 620 WTMJ.
Michelle graduated from UW-Madison with a double major in Communications and German. She spent a year studying abroad in Freiburg, Germany and she speaks German fluently. Keep listening, you never know when a little German will work its way into one of Michelle's reports!
